Just got AMD Ryzen 7 7700X from Amazon. What motherboard should I consider ? Price around $200.

B650 tomahawk, booting time is very fast, around 10 seconds.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I actually disagree that just any board is okay for this chip! I saw this earlier and wanted to weigh in because I’ve spent twenty years building rigs and reliability is the only thing that matters to me. That AMD Ryzen 7 7700X journey I went on was a bit of a rollercoaster tbh.

  • That first board choice had really annoying coil whine that I just couldnt ignore.
  • Cheaping out on the power delivery caused some weird micro-stutters during heavy loads.
  • The model I finally settled on has been incredible and hasn't crashed a single time in a year. Seriously obsessed with system stability! It is so much better to get something robust than to deal with random blue screens later on. Definitely focus on the quality of the components because it makes a massive difference!

If you're on a tighter budget, consider the MSI MPG B650 EDGE WIFI. It's around $240 and offers most of the important features you need for the 7700X. Solid VRMs, good memory support, and WiFi 6E included. You lose some PCIe lanes compared to X670E boards, but for most users, it's more than adequate.

Any b650 motherboards are OK.
