Ive been gaming on my old 1080p panel for ages but finally bit the bullet and grabbed a PS5. The thing is, this monitor just doesnt cut it anymore since I cant even use the 120Hz mode properly or see any real detail. Im in the UK and looking to spend around 600 quid max. I really need something with HDMI 2.1 support to actually get the most out of the hardware. Ive been reading conflicting reviews about panel types and VRR support so Im honestly just confused now. What 4K monitor should I be picking up so I dont waste my cash on the wrong tech?

Late to the party, but have you considered if you prioritize color accuracy or response times for your setup?

  • Sony Inzone M9 27 inch 4K 144Hz IPS has perfect PS5 integration, though the local dimming is hit or miss.
  • MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD 32 inch 4K 144Hz IPS gives you more screen real estate if you sit close. Both handle HDMI 2.1 properly, so you wont have to worry about bandwidth throttling.

Honestly, if you want that HDMI 2.1 goodness for your PS5, you should look at the LG 27GP950-B 27 inch 4K 144Hz IPS. It is a solid performer for console gaming.

  • Ensure you enable VRR in the system settings
  • Watch out for brightness levels in HDR mode It hits the sweet spot for responsiveness. Just be careful with calibration out of the box, it needs a bit of tweaking to look perfect.

Moving to 4K is a big jump, but be careful with those budget monitors. Many claim HDMI 2.1 support but actually limit your bandwidth, so make sure you read the specs twice before pulling the trigger. I would suggest sticking to reliable brands that have a track record with console gamers.

  • Gigabyte M28U 28-inch 4K 144Hz IPS
  • LG 27GP950-B 27-inch 4K 144Hz Nano IPS The Gigabyte is a solid choice because it hits all the right marks for the PS5 without costing a fortune. Just remember to check the firmware updates as soon as you plug it in, as sometimes they ship with old software that acts weird with VRR. Dont rush into a purchase just because it looks shiny on the box.
