im honestly so confused looking at all these tech websites and specs. i finally saved up some cash for a decent gaming setup but i have no clue what to buy for a monitor. i have about 300 bucks to spend and i really just want something that looks smooth when i play stuff like valorant or maybe some single player games on my steam deck dock. ive heard 144hz is the way to go but i dont really understand the difference between all the panel types like ips vs va or whatever.

  • budget is strict at 300 dollars
  • needs to be 144hz at least
  • screen size preferably 24 or 27 inches
  • i live in the states so getting it delivered in like a week would be great

are there any models that wont break the bank but still look decent? im kinda worried about getting a dud since i dont know how to calibrate anything. should i just grab whatever is on sale at best buy or is there a specific brand i should stay away from? seriously any advice would be cool because i feel like im just throwing darts at a board here...

Honestly, skip the generic sale stuff. Over the years I've found that LG 27GN800-B 27-inch Ultragear 144Hz IPS is basically the gold standard for your budget. The IPS panel gives you much better colors than VA for those single player games. Just plug it in and set it to 144Hz in your display settings, no crazy calibration needed. It handles Valorant perfectly.
