Hey PC builders! Just picked up a Ryzen 5 9600X for my new build and need advice on RAM. Looking for 32GB with good performance without breaking the bank.

Is 3600MHz still the sweet spot for Ryzen, or should I go higher with the 9000 series? DDR5 is obviously the way to go, but the price/speed options are overwhelming.

Currently considering G.Skill Trident Z5 and Corsair Vengeance, but open to other suggestions. Also wondering about CL timings - how much difference will I notice between CL36 and tighter timings?

My use case: gaming, streaming, and occasional video editing. Thanks for your suggestions!

DDR5 6000 CL30 is the sweet spot. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=DDR5+6000+CL30&------123456890?7649-20

I've been running my 9600X with G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5-6000 CL30 (32GB kit) and it's been rock solid. The Neo series is specifically optimized for AMD and I got it running at rated speeds with just enabling XMP. Haven't had any stability issues and saw nice performance gains in both gaming and productivity work compared to my old DDR4 setup.

basically everyone is right about 6000MHz CL30 being the sweet spot for Zen 5, but tbh what motherboard are you actually using? stability really depends on the boards QVL and the BIOS support. the reason we aim for 6000 is because it keeps the Infinity Fabric (FCLK) in a 1:1 ratio with the memory controller. if you go much higher, it usually drops to 1:2 mode, which adds latency and can actually hurt your gaming performance unless youre hitting crazy high speeds... since youre doing video editing too, reliability is huge. if you want something besides G.Skill, i would look at the TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan DDR5 6000MHz CL30 32GB or maybe the Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MHz CL30 32GB if you want a lower profile. both usually use SK Hynix dies which are basically the gold standard for stability on AM5 right now. do you have a specific budget limit or are you just looking for the best bang for your buck?
