My current laptop is absolute trash. It weighs like ten pounds and the battery dies if I even look at it wrong, which is a nightmare since I have to haul it across campus all day. Im seriously fed up. Does anyone have a solid lightweight rec for under 600 bucks?

Honestly, I feel your pain. Carrying a heavy brick across campus is the worst, especially when you have back-to-back classes. In my experience, you dont need to spend a grand to get something portable that actually lasts. I have used a bunch of budget machines over the years, and finding one with decent battery life is key. Check out these two if you can find them on sale:

  • Acer Swift 3 14-inch Ryzen 5 8GB RAM 512GB SSD
  • ASUS Vivobook 16 16-inch Ryzen 7 16GB RAM 512GB SSD The Acer is super light and usually stays well under budget. The ASUS is a bit beefier but the extra RAM makes multitasking way smoother for those late-night research sessions. Just make sure you look for Ryzen processors, they usually run cooler and better for battery life than the cheaper Intel chips.
