My old ultrabook finally kicked the bucket right before midterms and honestly I am super stressed. I usually know what to look for with specs but these new processors are confusing me. Im a history major so mostly just tons of browser tabs and word docs but I need something I can lug across campus all day without killing my back. My budget is around 600 bucks tops and I really need to pick something up by next weekend. Are the new budget Acers actually decent now or should I just look for a refurb ThinkPad? I just need something reliable that wont die on me in the library...

Honestly, stay away from the cheap Acers right now, the build quality is honestly disappointing and I had issues with the hinges after just a few months. For your budget, grab a refurb Lenovo ThinkPad T480 i5-8350U 8GB RAM 256GB SSD instead. It is built like a tank, the keyboard is superior for typing essays, and parts are dirt cheap if something goes wrong. Its a much better use of your money.
