Im so frustrated with these benchmarks. I read the 4070 Ti is fine but others say 12GB VRAM isnt enough for 4K in Premiere. I need to buy something in the US by Monday for this huge wedding project.

  • $800 max budget
  • 4K 10-bit files
  • No used gear

What actually works without lagging?

I saw this and wanted to warn you... that 12GB limit is a total trap for 10-bit footage once you start adding Lumetri or Warp Stabilizer. I would suggest looking at the Puget Systems hardware database if you want to see how these cards actually handle 4K exports in the real world. For under $800, you gotta stick with the 16GB models to avoid the Out of Video Memory errors:

  • ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB GDDR6X: It stays right at your budget and the cooling is top-tier. I wouldnt trust a cheaper dual-fan card for long wedding renders because they tend to throttle.
  • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super Gaming OC 16GB: This one has a bit more aggressive clock speeds. It might be slightly faster for rendering, just make sure your PSU can handle the transient spikes. Be careful with the base 4070 Ti or anything with 12GB VRAM. It might look okay in simple benchmarks but it will stutter like crazy on a complex timeline.

To add to the point above: everyone is right about that 12GB limit being risky for 10-bit. I went with the PNY GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB Verto Overclocked and honestly it works well for my needs.

  • 16GB VRAM prevents those out of memory errors Premiere gives on long 4K exports
  • The extra buffer handles heavy color grading way better than 12GB cards
  • It fits your $800 budget perfectly Im really satisfied with the stability so far. Good luck!

Honestly, those benchmarks can be pretty misleading because they usually test clean timelines without many effects. You really need to be careful with that 12GB VRAM limit on the base 4070 Ti. For 4K 10-bit wedding footage, especially if you're using heavy noise reduction or long multicam sequences, you're gonna hit a wall eventually. I would suggest making the jump to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB GDDR6X instead. That extra 4GB of VRAM is basically your safety net against those random out-of-memory crashes Premiere is famous for. One thing to watch out for is render failure at 90% because you ran out of memory, which happens way more than people admit on the 12GB cards. If you check around at US retailers, you can usually find something like the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB or even the ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super Trinity Black Edition 16GB right around that $800 mark. Make sure you avoid the older 30-series cards now since the dual encoders on the 40-series Ti Super are actually useful for speeding up those long wedding exports. Just be careful with your power supply too, these things can spike a bit when you're pushing a heavy project. Honestly, skip the 12GB cards if you want to stay sane through this project... it just isnt worth the headache.
