Im totally new to this whole pc building thing so sorry if this is a dumb question but im trying to put together a machine for editing my gopro vacation videos and some light work stuff. ive been looking at ryzen chips but there are so many numbers and names and im honestly just lost. my budget is around 400 for the chip and im hoping to buy it sometime this month since my laptop is basically dying on me. do i need one of those fancy ones with all the cores or does that even matter for simple editing? which amd cpu is actually worth the money for someone like me?

Honestly, grab the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 12-Core 4.7GHz Processor. I used to edit on weaker chips and the render times were brutal. Youre gonna want those extra cores for smooth scrubbing on the timeline. Just be careful with cooling, make sure you get a beefy air cooler or an AIO so it doesnt throttle while you export those long vacation clips.
