im so confused by all these model numbers its actually stressing me out lol. basically i need to build a simple computer for my home office since my old laptop finally kicked the bucket yesterday and i have a ton of spreadsheets to finish by friday. my budget for just the processor is like 150 bucks maybe a little more if its worth it but i really dont want to overspend on power i wont use. i just do word docs and zoom calls mostly. sorry if this is a dumb question but what is the best intel chip i should grab that wont break the bank?

If you want something reliable, go with the Intel Core i5-12400 2.5GHz 6-Core Processor. It costs a bit more than the i3, but those extra cores make multitasking in huge spreadsheets feel way smoother. If money is tight, the Intel Core i3-13100 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor is solid too.

  • i5: way better for heavy multi-tasking
  • i3: stays cool and super efficient for standard office work Honestly, either will keep you happy for years.

Honestly dont stress about it. For spreadsheets and zoom calls, you dont need anything crazy. Just grab the Intel Core i3-12100 4.3GHz Quad-Core processor. It handles office tasks perfectly and stays super cool without needing a big fancy cooler. Its well under your budget too, so you can put the extra cash toward a decent SSD instead.

To add to the point above: honestly, you really cant go wrong with just picking up any recent entry-level chip from Intel. I bought one for my own home office setup a while back and honestly, it just works. I havent had a single headache with it during my zoom meetings. Just stick with Intel and you'll be totally happy, no need to overthink those crazy model numbers.
