Im trying to set up my home desk in Austin for coding and writing since I finally got a new macbook. Ive been reading a bunch of articles suggesting vertical stands and mechanical keyboards, but half the reddit threads say they just clutter the desk while others swear by them. Which laptop accessories are actually essential for improving daily productivity?

Congrats on the new macbook. Working from home in austin gets toasty, so keeping things simple is usually the move. Tbh most desk setups get overhyped with junk you dont actually need. After years of trial and error coding and writing all day, heres what actually makes a difference without cluttering your space.
- Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID
- Having touch id right on an external board is huge when your mac is closed.
- Dell U2723QE 4K Hub Monitor
- Single usb-c cable charges the laptop and handles display, saving a ton of cable mess.
- Anker 737 Power Bank 24000mAh
- Great for working on the patio when the ac bill gets too high inside. Vertical stands are fine if you are tight on space, but honestly just pushing the laptop to the side works too. Keyboard choice is totally preference, though linear switches feel way better for long typing sessions than those clicky ones that drive roommates crazy.
