So frustrated with our grocery situation right now. Me and my partner are trying to stick to a strict $120 weekly budget here in Chicago but we keep buying the same stuff because our lists arent synced.
I tried looking into Bring! but it seems more like a mobile app and the web version is super clunky. Then I saw OurGroceries but the Chrome extension looks like it hasn't been updated since 2015 and I cant tell if it even still works properly. Does anyone know a specific Chrome extension that lets two people edit the same grocery list in real-time without having to refresh the page? I just want to add stuff while I'm at my desk at work...
Honestly, the state of grocery extensions on the Chrome store is pretty depressing. I spent way too much time trying to find one that doesnt look like a security risk, and unfortunately, most of them are just abandoned projects. I gave OurGroceries a shot a while back and it was so glitchy I had to uninstall it immediately... really didnt feel safe having it access my browser data when it hasn't been updated since forever. If youre looking for something reliable that wont crash your work tab, I usually suggest sticking with the big names even if they feel a bit generic. Google Keep is basically the only one I trust for real-time syncing. You just make a list, share it with your partner, and the checkbox updates are instant. No refresh needed. Its way more reliable than those niche apps that haven't seen an update in years. I also looked into Any.do but its kinda bloated now. It keeps trying to push a premium subscription and the sync isn't nearly as fast as Keep, which is frustrating when youre trying to coordinate a tight budget in Chicago. Prices are high enough at the store without accidentally buying double of everything lol. It was not as good as expected honestly. TL;DR: Most niche grocery extensions are sketchy or broken. Stick to Google Keep for the best real-time sync and safety.
