So I just got a new laptop for my remote job starting next Monday and I realized I have literally zero ports. I need something that wont die on me because I'll be plugging in two monitors and a mechanical keyboard every single day.

I looked at the Anker 7-in-1 because everyone talks about it but then I read some reddit threads saying they overheat and fry ports which sounds terrifying tbh. Then I saw the Satechi ones but they are like $100 and my budget is $60 max. I'm just confused if there is actually a brand that stays cool and reliable for long hours. What are you guys actually using that doesnt break?

Actually, I disagree that high price equals safety. Having tried many, the Cable Matters Dual HDMI USB-C Hub 80W PD handles my dual screens daily and stays way cooler than my old Satechi.

tbh I have used Baseus 9-in-1 USB C Hub Dual HDMI for a long time and it has been pretty decent for my desk setup. Those horror stories you see usually come from people trying to power everything through the laptop port without a dedicated wall plug... that is a recipe for overheating. My biggest tip is to always use a separate 100w charger plugged into the hub itself. It keeps the connection way more stable for dual monitors and stops it from glitching out mid-meeting. If you wanna stay under that 60 dollar mark, UGREEN Revodok Pro 210 10-in-1 USB C Hub is actually a sleeper hit. It stays pretty cool even when I have my mechanical keyboard and monitors plugged in for 8 hours straight. Just dont buy the super cheap generic brands and you should be fine. It really comes down to power delivery and keeping the air flowing around the device.

Like someone mentioned, external power is the secret. Ive used LENTION USB C Hub C35 Dual HDMI for years tho. TL;DR: metal casing prevents that overheating issue everyone is scared of.
