im honestly so sick of my neck hurting and my trackpad lagging while im trying to finish this project by friday. my current setup is just my laptop on a pile of books and its driving me crazy. im in the uk and have about 150 quid to fix this mess so i dont go insane. so i was thinking i need a stand and a decent mouse but is a mechanical keyboard really necessary or just overkill? my logic was that comfort equals speed but maybe im just wasting cash. what are the absolute essentials i need to buy right now to actually get work done without wanting to throw my laptop out the window?

Regarding what #1 said about ditching books, get a Logitech MX Master 3S Wireless Mouse instead. Mechanical keyboards arent overkill; they save your wrists. Total game changer for long hours.

Saw this earlier but just now responding. Ditching the books is the smartest move you can make today. Since you are in the UK and have a 150 quid budget, you can definitely sort your posture and workflow without breaking the bank.

  • Get a Roost Laptop Stand V3 Adjustable because it is lightweight and genuinely changes your eye line.
  • For a keyboard, definitely skip the overkill boards. Grab a Keychron K2 V2 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard Brown Switches instead. It feels great for typing and fits perfectly in a mobile setup.
  • Invest in a quality mat like the SteelSeries QcK Gaming Mouse Pad Large so your tracking is smooth. Mechanical boards really do save your wrists from strain over long sessions, so they are worth every penny imo. My setup has worked well for years with this combo and I have no complaints.

I personally use a simple stand from Nexstand and it works well for me. Honestly, just grab any reliable wireless mouse from Logitech and you will be so much more satisfied. Mechanical keyboards are nice but maybe not urgent.
