Ugh I am so stressed out right now. We have seven people living under one roof—my husband, my three kids, my sister, and her daughter—and trying to figure out Christmas and New Years is becoming a literal nightmare. My sister works at the hospital and her schedule just came out and shes working the 24th and 25th but my kids have their hockey tournament starting the 27th in a different city so we cant just push everything back like we usually do. I looked up some stuff online about how to manage this and most people just say to use a shared Google Calendar or do a "rotating holiday" thing where you celebrate on a different day every year. But how is that supposed to work when my youngest is 6 and still thinks Santa comes on the exact night of the 24th? And the calendar thing doesnt help when the dates literally just dont line up no matter how you look at them. We have a really tight budget this year so we cant just do two separate big dinners or anything fancy. I feel like someone is always gonna end up feeling left out or pissed off because they have to miss the big meal or the gift opening. I'm just totally stuck and everyone is arguing about it already. How do you guys actually handle it when the dates just dont work for everyone in a big house?
> But how is that supposed to work when my youngest is 6 and still thinks Santa comes on the exact night of the 24th? honestly we did a big christmas breakfast last year and it was great. no complaints. its way cheaper than a dinner and your sister can eat before her hospital shift.
TL;DR: Centralize the logistics. Use a Christmas lists chrome extension to sync gift data. It provides a single source of truth so you cant miss the specific time windows available before the hockey tournament.
