Honestly so fed up with this walmart app right now its making our weekly grocery run such a headache. My husband and I are trying to coordinate for a big party this weekend and I need to get this order in by 5pm today to get a pickup slot but nothing is syncing. I add stuff on my phone and he adds stuff on his and we just end up with two different carts its a total mess.
We really need:
Is there actually a way to do this or am I just wasting my time trying to find a share button that doesnt exist...
In my experience, Walmart doesnt actually have a native share button. Over the years, Ive tried many workarounds, and the only reliable way is just sharing one login. Log him into your account on his phone and things should sync up live tho... it's the most stable way to avoid glitches. Honestly, Easy Cart Share makes it so much faster to transfer a cart between different accounts.
Re: "To add to the point above: Im quite..." yeah lists are okay but Walmarts backend is just so disappointing. I spent ages trying to figure out why my wifes phone wouldnt update and it turns out their database sync is just super laggy.
Helpful thread 👍
To add to the point above: Im quite satisfied using AnyList for syncing.
To add to the point above: I've been doing the family grocery run dance for years now, and honestly, Walmart is still stuck in the stone ages compared to something like Instacart or Amazon Fresh where the cart sharing is actually seamless. In my experience, even the share login trick can get glitchy if you both hit the checkout button around the same time... i've had items just vanish. Since you're on a deadline, I'd suggest checking out Share-A-Cart because it lets you just bundle the whole cart into a code and send it over. Way less headache than waiting for their laggy servers to catch up. Over the years, I've tried many different ways to manage these lists, and honestly, if Walmart doesn't fix their cross-platform syncing soon, I'm just gonna stick to manual lists. It shouldn't be this hard in 2024 tho.
Saw this earlier and had to chime in because i love digging into how these apps actually function under the hood! Honestly i think the reason you're seeing such a mess is because Walmarts backend probably uses a specific session-based locking mechanism that hates simultaneous writes from two different OS environments. Not 100 percent sure on the exact specs they use but IIRC there are some amazing browser tools that let you share walmart cart by basically syncing the local storage data between phones. That sounds like a fantastic way to bypass those laggy database refreshes! Im not totally certain if it works perfectly on every single Samsung update tho so you might have to play around with it... but man it would be so cool to get that working for your party prep!
