so im planning this group camping trip out to Zion for next weekend and im basically the designated grocery guy since i have the big suv. ive been using the walmart app for years now for my weekly pickups so im pretty familiar with the ui and usually just hit checkout and call it a day but this time my buddy offered to cover the supplies since i handled the campsite booking and the permit fees. i spent like two hours yesterday adding all the tents, lanterns, and a ton of food to my cart and the total is sitting at like 315 bucks right now. usually i would just screenshot the whole thing but with 45 items that would be like 10 different images and id probably miss something or double count. i looked for a share button or some way to send him the link so he can just pay for it on his account but i cant find anything that isnt a wedding registry or a birthday gift list thing. if i copy the url it just opens his own empty cart obviously lol. is there some hidden feature in the app settings im missing or did they really not include a way to just port a cart over to another user? kinda weird for a major retailer if thats the case...

walmart really doesnt have a direct share button for carts yet. pretty annoying tbh. you might want to consider using the list feature instead, but be careful. i would suggest:

  • stick to Great Value brands to cut that bill down
  • check the clearance tab for cheap gear
  • avoid sharing your login credentials basically verify those quantities before he checkouts...

oh man i was just reading this and i totally feel your pain with those massive carts! last summer i did this huge solar power bank project for a cross country van trip and i had like 60 different high amp cables and connectors in my cart because im obsessed with technical specs and data efficiency. it took forever! i think i remember hearing about a beta shared cart feature being tested in certain zip codes or maybe it was just for walmart plus members? not 100 percent sure but iirc a buddy mentioned it worked for him last month. before i go digging through my old bookmarks to find the specific workaround i saw, are you using the ios app or the android version? the ui differences between the two can be totally wild and it might change what options are actually visible in your sub menus! zion is gonna be amazing btw i love that park so much!

been messing around with the app lately and im actually pretty happy with how the registry or list workaround works once you get the hang of it. i had a similar situation with a massive electronics order a few months back and i was so satisfied with how the list feature handled about 30 different components without dropping any data. its way more stable than the actual cart session which seems to time out if you look at it funny... quick tips to save you the headache:

  • create a new list, move your items there, and use the share link. he can then move the whole list to his cart in one tap
  • double check the specific store location on his end so the stock levels dont mess up your total. inventory varies a lot between zip codes

Unfortunately, Walmart still hasnt fixed this after all these years and its honestly a total pain. I have been using their app for forever and they still make you jump through hoops just to share a simple shopping list. Since the live cart wont sync with another account, your best bet is moving everything into a Registry. Its tedious but it works way better than sending forty screenshots.

  • Create a new Gift Registry and set it to public
  • Move those 45 items from the cart to that list
  • Send your buddy the registry link so he can add everything at once If you guys need a reliable light for Zion, check out the Energizer LED Camping Lantern 1500 Lumens while youre at it. I bought one last year and it actually survives being dropped, unlike the cheap plastic ones. Zion is gonna be incredible this time of year though...
