Ive been using the Walmart app for grocery pickup for probably three or four years now and usually I have it totally dialed in. My wife and I have a pretty tight weekly budget of 150 bucks because we are trying to save for a vacation to Maine this summer, so I usually just sit down on Sunday nights and plug everything into the app. But lately my schedule has been getting super chaotic with work and she has been wanting to add stuff throughout the week instead of sending me a million texts that I end up forgetting to add to the cart anyway.
So I was thinking there has to be a way to share a list or have a joint account right? My logic was that since most of these apps have cloud syncing it should be trivial to just invite her to the list but I poked around the settings for like twenty minutes yesterday and honestly I feel like Im losing my mind. I checked the account sharing options and looked for a collaborate button near the cart but it just isnt there. Am I missing something stupid? Is it literally just one login per account or is there some workaround where we can both see the same active cart without me having to give her my password and deal with the two-factor authentication every single time? It is driving me crazy because we keep missing items or doubling up on stuff like milk and eggs that we definitely dont need.
Is there some hidden feature I missed or is the app just really behind the times on this? Really hoping someone knows a hack for this because I dont want to switch to Instacart or something else just because of a shared cart issue when I already have the Walmart+ subscription paid for. Let me know if you guys have found a way to do this without just logging into the same profile on two phones at once...
The app is honestly behind the times on this one. You cannot actually share a cart natively. I tried setting up a shared login once but the two-factor authentication loop made me so frustrated I almost tossed my phone. Just be careful if you share passwords, as it can mess with your order history. I would suggest using a free list app like AnyList to sync items before you move them to the cart.
To add to the point above: the API integration just isnt there. I tried the shared account login for months, but the 2FA resets made my budget tracking a nightmare. It was awful.
The Walmart app architecture unfortunately lacks a collaborative cart API, so you're not missing anything! Since you're dealing with budget constraints, I highly recommend using AnyList. It's fantastic for syncing lists across devices. You can organize by category, track your total spend in real-time, and then just transfer the items over to the Walmart app right before you checkout. It makes managing household inventory so much more efficient!
