I'm looking for a new gaming mouse with programmable side buttons for MMOs and FPS games. Currently considering the Logitech G502 and Razer Basilisk, but open to other suggestions. Need something comfortable for long sessions with reliable side button placement that won't cause accidental clicks. Budget around $60-80. What are your experiences with different models and which ones have the most durable side buttons?

^ This. Also, reliability is basically the most important thing if you dont want to be buying a new mouse every six months. I've gone through a few myself and honestly, it usually comes down to how you actually hold the thing. What kind of grip style do you usually go with? Like, are you a full palm grip user or do you do the claw thing? Also, are you looking for a specific number of side buttons? MMO players usually want a whole numpad on the side but that can be a nightmare for FPS precision if the tension isnt right. Knowing that would definitely help narrow down which ones wont give out on you.

Nah, I gotta disagree on the Rival 5. The build quality feels a bit hollow and that top side switch is basically unreachable for most people. If youre looking for real value in that $60-80 range, here are a couple pro tips: * Prioritize optical switches. Go with the Razer Basilisk V3 over the Logitech. Optical switches dont suffer from the double clicking issues that eventually kill most mechanical mice, so youll get way more life out of it for your cash.
* Check the 'shift' function. Both Razer and Logitech have software that lets you map a side button to act like a 'Shift' key, which basically doubles your available commands without needing a mouse that looks like a calculator. * Keep an eye on the <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= SteelSeries+Aerox+5&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Aerox 5 if you want something lighter. Its basically a better-engineered version of the Rival series and often drops into your budget range during sales, giving you better sensor tech for the same price.

To add to the point above: Isla is totally right about optical switches. In my experience, nothing kills a good session faster than a mouse that starts double-clicking because the mechanical bits wore out. I went through a phase where I was replacing my gear every year until I started paying attention to the actual build quality inside rather than just the brand name. Since youre doing both MMOs and FPS games, youre asking a lot from one device. I've found that some mice try to do too much and end up with buttons that feel mushy or are just plain hard to reach during a hectic match. A couple things I'm wondering to help narrow this down:

  • How many side buttons do you actually need for your macros?
  • Do you prefer a heavier mouse for stability or something super lightweight for those fast flicks? Tbh, finding that sweet spot in the $60-80 range is definitely possible if you know what to look for, but the ergonomics change everything depending on your hand size...

SteelSeries Rival 5 is underrated. Great side button layout, comfortable grip, and usually on sale. Been using mine for 8 months with zero issues. Might save you some cash compared to the big names.
