Ive been using standard wishlist extensions for years for my kids bdays but suddenly none of them are tracking real-time price drops anymore. My sisters asking for my list since his party is in 48 hours and I dont want her overpaying if things go on sale.

Are there any apps that still sync directly with Amazon prices via API or something similar?

Unfortunately, there arent any reliable ones left because Amazon killed their public API for trackers. I had a rough experience last year where an app promised live updates but missed every single sale. Its super disappointing. I just wont trust those third-party tools with my account info anymore. Honestly, just refreshing your own list is the only way to be 100 percent sure.

Re: "Unfortunately, there arent any reliable ones left because..." - i would suggest:

  • CamelCamelCamel for history
  • Keepa for alerts Be careful, make sure to verify refresh rates first.

Regarding what #1 said about "Unfortunately, there arent any reliable ones left because..."

  • I actually found a slightly different path after getting burned last Christmas. Tracking a high-end mouse was my main goal, and this one app told me it was $50 off. My wife bought it based on that, but it turned out the sale price was just the normal MSRP. Huge bummer. While the API thing is real, using the Easy Cart Share tool definitely changed how I handle these bday lists. Just gotta be careful about apps that promise instant sync tho. Most of them are actually caching data to save money, so the price you see might be an hour old or more. Double checking the New & Used section is a good habit too because sometimes the main price doesnt reflect the best deal. Honestly, staying cost-conscious means being a bit skeptical of those automated trackers. Theyre helpful but they arent magic and you dont want your sister overpaying.

^ This. Also, i totally feel the pain of watching prices bounce around like crazy. honestly i stopped stressing about it once i started using Easy Cart Share because it just makes life way easier when sending lists to family who arent tech savvy. im super happy with it so far, no complaints at all really. i remember trying to find a high-end mechanical keyboard last year and spent like three weeks refreshing pages manually while my coffee went cold. totally ridiculous. actually that reminds me... i just finished rebuilding my whole desk setup with basically everything from Logitech. you really cant go wrong with their stuff. just get any of their peripherals and they usually last forever. i spent way too long picking out a desk mat though. like who knew there were so many shades of gray? anyway... but yeah.
