Can anyone tell me what the best AI video editing tools are for someone who has literally never edited a video before? Im sorry if this is a super dumb question but I honestly have no idea where to start and everything looks so complicated.

My situation is pretty simple, I just need to cut together some clips from my trip to Japan last month for my family to watch. Im not looking to do anything professional, just maybe get rid of the blurry parts and add some music or text if its not too hard. My budget is pretty much zero, so free tools or at least something with a good trial would be ideal. I keep hearing about AI doing the work for you, like picking the best clips or fixing the lighting, but every website I find just lists expensive software that looks like it belongs in a hollywood studio.

  • Do these AI tools actually make it easier for beginners?
  • Is there anything free that wont take me weeks to learn?

I really dont have much time to spend on this before the next family gathering so if there is something that just kinda does it for me that would be amazing. Im just so lost looking at all these timelines and tracks...

Honestly, dont sweat it. I have been editing footage for years, and watching the industry shift toward AI has been wild. You dont need some bloated studio suite just to stitch together travel clips. The best move for a beginner is to use tools that automate the boring stuff like cutting out dead air or stabilizing shaky shots. In my experience, you should look at these:

  • Adobe Premiere Rush 4K Export
  • Its way less intimidating than Pro. It handles the color correction and music sync pretty well for casual stuff.
  • CapCut Desktop Version AI Features
  • Honestly, this is probably what you want. It has auto-cut features that literally pick the best moments for you based on the pacing of your music. I tried editing a full hour of 4K footage from a trip last year and realized that if you arent doing professional color grading, these entry-level tools save you insane amounts of time. The AI in CapCut is surprisingly sharp at identifying the blurry bits you mentioned. You just feed it your files, pick a style, and let it do the heavy lifting. You wont need weeks to figure it out, just an hour or two to poke around the interface. Stick with these, and you will have that Japan video ready long before your family dinner.

Like someone mentioned, stick to the basics. Check out CapCut Desktop Video Editor for quick AI cuts, or Canva Video Editor if you just need simple drag and drop features.
