What is actually the best budget motherboard for a 13600K right now? I keep reading that the Z790 boards are essential for overclocking but honestly I just want a stable rig for gaming and maybe some light editing. People keep recommending the MSI Pro Z790-A but its like 250 bucks which is killing my 1200 dollar total budget. Im so annoyed.
Honestly, grab the MSI B760-P WIFI DDR4. It is amazing for the price! You really dont need a Z790 board for gaming. Save that cash for a better GPU instead!
Late to the party but I feel your pain. I tried saving money with a cheaper B660 board last year and unfortunately had some real issues with VRM throttling during heavy renders. It was honestly not as good as expected and I ended up swapping it out entirely. If you want something that isnt quite as pricey as the Z790 models but still rock solid for an i5-13600K, take a look at the ASUS TUF Gaming B760-PLUS WIFI D4. It manages power way better than the entry-level options. I wouldnt bank on extreme overclocking with these B760s, but for gaming, the performance is basically identical. Definitely look into that one before pulling the trigger on something way over budget.
