I finally managed to snag a PS5, but I’m still playing on an old 1080p screen and I know I'm missing out on the full experience. I’m looking for the absolute best 4K monitor to really make those exclusives pop. My main requirements are HDMI 2.1 support so I can actually hit that 120Hz refresh rate in shooters, and I’m specifically looking for something in the 27 to 32-inch range. I’ve been looking at the Sony Inzone M9 and some LG UltraGear models, but the specs are getting a bit overwhelming. Is OLED worth the extra cash for console gaming, or should I stick with a high-end IPS? What monitor are you currently using for your PS5 setup?

TL;DR: IPS is safer for long sessions, but OLED is unbeatable for HDR. I would suggest the LG 27GP950-B 27-inch UltraGear 4K UHD Nano IPS Gaming Monitor for 4K 120Hz; its basically the PS5 sweet spot. Be careful with OLED models like the LG 32GS95UE-B 32-inch UltraGear OLED 4K Gaming Monitor if ur worried about burn-in, though the contrast is highkey insane. gl!

Quick question - I just saw this thread and wanted to jump in! Before I give advice, I'm kinda curious about your daily habits. How many hours are you actually planning to game? Honestly, OLED is gorgeous but I'm always a bit cautious about it for consoles cuz of burn-in risks with static HUDs, especially if you play for hours on end. Plus it’s sooo expensive for a first 4K setup. Basically, the tech jump is huge, so you gotta decide if the risk is worth the reward. If you wanna stay safe and save some cash, I would suggest checking out the Gigabyte M32U 32" 144Hz 4K UHD Gaming Monitor. It's usually much cheaper than the Inzone and still hits that 120Hz sweet spot for shooters. Another solid, budget-friendly option is the Samsung 28" Odyssey G70B 4K UHD G-Sync Gaming Monitor. Both are IPS so they're way safer for long sessions. But yeah, let me know if ur a marathon gamer or just a casual player first! idk if OLED is worth the extra stress yet.

yo congrats on the PS5!! honestly the jump from 1080p is gonna blow ur mind. i feel u on the specs being overwhelming tho... Before i give a solid rec, i gotta ask:
1. basically what's ur budget look like?? cuz OLED is definitely pricey.
2. is ur room usually dark or do u have a ton of windows? Here's what I recommend:
- Go with a 32-inch screen. I'm using a 32-inch LG IPS right now and the extra size makes 4K actually pop compared to 27.
- OLED is highkey worth it if u play in the dark, but IPS is better for bright rooms.
- Stick to brands like Sony or LG for that HDMI 2.1 stuff, it works way better with the PS5 features iirc. anyway gl with the search!! it's a total rabbit hole lol 👍
