Can anyone recommend the best laptop for professional video editing under $2000? Sorry if this is a totally basic question because im super new to all this tech stuff and honestly a bit overwhelmed by all the specs out there. I really have no idea what I should be looking at between macs and pcs or what graphics cards actually matter. Im based in Chicago and need to buy something by the end of next month since my old laptop literally just died on me while I was trying to cut a simple 4k family project in Premiere. I want something thats gonna last a few years and wont lag when I put multiple layers and effects on the timeline. My absolute max budget is two grand out the door including tax if possible. What are people actually using these days that wont give me a headache?

> my old laptop literally just died on me while I was trying to cut a simple 4k family project in Premiere Yeah, 4k editing will definitely kill an older machine real quick. Premiere loves RAM and a decent GPU. Honestly, grab the Apple MacBook Pro 14 M3 Pro with the 18-core GPU and 18GB RAM if you can stretch right around your budget, or look for a refurb. It handles timeline rendering effortlessly without sounding like a jet engine. I switched over a while back and have zero regrets for video work. Battery life is actually insane too when you're editing on the go around the city. Just make sure you get at least 16GB of unified memory or RAM minimum, whatever route you go. Don't bother with 8GB.
