> Reliability is basically everything when your doing long training runs I totally agree with this. Finding stock is one thing, but making sure you dont end up with a card that throttles or dies under heavy AI workloads is another story. Based on the market research Ive been doing lately, the different brands have some pretty distinct pros and cons that you should consider before you pull the trigger on whatever happens to be in stock. Here is what I have found so far:

  • ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 5090
  • Definitely has the best cooling and VRM setup for those long training sessions, but the price is way higher than MSRP and their basically impossible to find right now.
  • MSI Suprim X GeForce RTX 5090
  • Usually a bit easier to track down than the ASUS cards and still offers great build quality, though I think? some people find their software a bit clunky for monitoring.
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition
  • Great because you get the stock price, but they sell out in literally seconds and might run slightly warmer in a multi-GPU setup compared to the beefier third-party coolers. Honestly, if your looking for reliability, I would probably lean towards the ASUS if you can find it, but the MSI is a solid runner up. Just watch out for those scalper prices on eBay!

Tbh, finding these things for AI builds has been a total nightmare lately. When I was setting up my local rig, I spent forever just making sure I wasn't getting some grey-market card with zero manufacturer warranty. Reliability is basically everything when your doing long training runs, and you dont want to risk a $2k+ investment on a sketchy site. Before you dive in, I had a couple questions to see what kind of setup your looking at:
* What kind of chassis are you using for the airflow?
* Do you already have a dedicated ATX 3.1 PSU that meets the 12V-2x6 industry standards? Honestly, idk if I'd trust any of the current stock without verifying the power delivery specs first. Some of the early units had issues with transient spikes that could easily trip a lower-end PSU if the VRM quality isn't up to par.
