im trying to build my first pc for my kid to play minecraft but i have no idea what im doing lol. we got a cheap 1080p monitor and i need an amd chip that wont break the bank. my budget is like 150 bucks tops. sorry if this is basic but what is the best budget amd cpu for 1080p?

- Agree with the 5600G if you dont have a discrete GPU yet. If you do, these are viable specs-wise:
- AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core 3.6GHz: Older tech but has more L3 cache than newer budget chips, which helps 1080p stability.
- AMD Ryzen 5 4500 6-Core 3.6GHz: Extremely cheap entry point. It is technically slower than the 3600 but handles Minecraft easily. Both stay well under that 150 dollar limit...

In my experience, you cant really beat the 5600 for a budget build right now. Ive used many chips over the years and this one always delivers for 1080p. For Minecraft, its basically overkill but that just means itll stay relevant longer.
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6-Core 3.5GHz
- This is the sweet spot. It usually sits around 130 bucks and performs way above its weight class.
- AMD Ryzen 5 5500 6-Core 12-Thread
- If you really need to save every penny, this is fine but you lose some cache which hurts gaming performance a bit.
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics
- Only grab this one if you arent buying a separate graphics card. Just make sure your motherboard is compatible out of the box... sometimes those older ones need a bios update. Ngl, the 5600 is probably the best value chip AMD has made in years for basic 1080p gaming.

Saw this earlier but just now responding! Honestly, building a first PC is such a blast. If you are really looking to save cash, check out the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G 6-Core 3.9GHz. I used it for my nephews rig last year and he loves it! It has built-in graphics which is amazing for Minecraft if you havent picked a GPU yet. You got this!
