Honestly, finding a REAL discount on the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K this early is going to be tough since it's the current flagship SKU. If you're looking to save some cash, your best bet is usually a Micro Center bundle if you live near one; they usually knock fifty bucks off the MSRP when you pair it with a high-end Z890 motherboard. Otherwise, check out Newegg's 'Combo Up' stuff. I've been building rigs for like 15 years and flagship chips basically stay at full price until the next generation is announced. Also, keep an eye on open-box units at major retailers—people often return these after realizing their cooling setup isn't beefy enough for the Ultra 9's TDP, and you can grab a serious deal. Just double-check that the socket pins are perfect before you leave the store! (at least thats what worked for me when I grabbed my last i9)

I kinda disagree that the bundles are the only way to save, tho I see the logic. Ive been looking at some of the early performance-per-watt data and honestly, Im not sure the value is there yet at the current MSRP. I think I heard that some of the bigger retailers are seeing slower movement than expected on the high end because of the new socket requirements. IIRC, theres usually a price correction once the initial batch of early adopters is through. Not 100% sure if well see an official drop from the manufacturer, but Ive got a feeling we might see some better third-party coupons or store-specific discounts soon. If youre looking to save money, it might be worth just sitting on your hands for a couple more months... just my two cents tho. Usually, the first few months are the worst time to buy if youre looking at the data for price-to-performance.
