ive built a bunch of rigs over the years for friends and family so Im no total newbie to this stuff but man, picking a cpu right now has my head spinning. Im putting together a mid-range system mainly for 1080p gaming and some video editing on the side, trying to keep the processor under 200 bucks if possible since I need room in the budget for a decent gpu. Im planning to buy everything next weekend during the local sales. Should I just grab a 5600X and call it a day on the AM4 platform or is it really worth stretching the budget for something on AM5 like the 7600 so I dont get trapped on a dead-end socket?
Honestly id just grab the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X since you are strictly trying to keep costs down for a 1080p rig. In my experience building budget systems over the years, jumping to AM5 eats up cash fast once you factor in ddr5 ram and motherboards.
