I am honestly so fed up with Elfster right now because the wishlist sync is just broken half the time and people keep adding stuff that doesnt even show up for their Santa. My logic was that a site designed for this would just... work? But no. I was thinking maybe DrawNames or something else because I have 15 family members spread out from here to London and we need to get this sorted by next week since our budget is $50 and shipping takes forever. Does anyone know a site that actually lets you pull in links from anywhere without it being a total headache? Im just trying to avoid another year of people getting random junk they didnt ask for...

TL;DR: Switch to DrawNames because the link integration actually works and its way better for international groups. I totally get the frustration with Elfster... it feels like it hasnt been updated since 2010. Last year I used DrawNames for a group of 12 and it was a lot smoother. One thing you should definitely be careful about is the international aspect tho. Since you have people in London and presumably the US, make sure everyone is aware that shipping and customs can be a huge headache for a $50 gift. I would suggest telling your family to try and find items on local sites (like the UK version of Amazon or whatever) and then just paste those specific links into the list. DrawNames is cool because it lets you add a browser extension or just copy-paste any URL, and it usually grabs the image and price right away without breaking. A few things to watch out for:

  • Double check if the site is set to the right currency for everyone
  • Remind people to check shipping times before adding stuff to their list
  • Make sure nobody picks a heavy item that costs $40 to ship to the UK It might take a minute for the older relatives to get used to it, but its honestly much less of a mess than the others. Be sure to remind everyone to check their links before the draw happens next week. Good luck getting it sorted!

> I have 15 family members spread out from here to London and we need to get this sorted by next week To add to the point above: in my experience, Giftster is the absolute best for those tricky international links. Ive been using it for years, and that Fetch tool is honestly magic. Last year, my family in London used it for small boutiques and everything synced perfectly without any 404 errors. Its way more reliable than the big names... definitely saves a lot of holiday drama.

Unfortunately, I had issues with several newer apps that were not as good as expected. One year we tried a basic generator and it glitched, giving everyone their own name... total mess. I think there are better ways to handle the global shipping headache, not sure though. Actually, Share Product Wishlist is what I use to share my wishlist with my parents so they don't buy the wrong stuff lol.
