Which wishlist apps actually let you paste links from literally any store? Ive been using Giftster for years but lately it seems like it cant handle some of the smaller indie shops I find on Instagram, and it is driving me crazy for my holiday prep. I just need something reliable that wont break if I drop a URL from a random boutique site. Budget is zero since I just need a simple tool for the family exchange, but if there is a paid one that is super solid I might consider it...

Regarding what #1 said about > Ive been using Giftster for years but lately it seems like it cant handle some of the smaller indie shops I find on Instagram, I totally get it. I was worried about that too but I switched to MyRegistry recently and honestly, it works really well for those random indie sites. I was hesitant at first because of privacy stuff, but so far I have no complaints and it feels pretty solid. Here is why I am happy with it:

  • The browser extension actually grabs the images correctly from boutique sites.
  • It has not crashed on me once, which is a huge relief.
  • Everything just works, even with weird URL structures. It is pretty straightforward to use and keeps my list organized without any weird bugs. Definitely worth a look if you are tired of stuff breaking.

Honestly, you should really check out Elfster. It is hands down the most robust option for grabbing links from literally anywhere on the web. It handles those quirky indie shop URLs perfectly because it acts more like a manual browser clipper.

  • It is totally free for families
  • The mobile app is super fast
  • Works on every single site I have tested It makes holiday shopping so much easier!

> Ive been using Giftster for years but lately it seems like it cant handle some of the smaller indie shops I find on Instagram I totally feel your pain on this one. I had the exact same issue last year when I was trying to track down these handmade ornaments from a tiny shop I found on social media. I kept trying to paste the link into my old app, and it just kept returning errors or showing blank boxes. It was so frustrating because I really wanted my family to see these specific items instead of just generic stuff. After wasting way too much time dealing with broken links, I started using Share Product Wishlist and honestly, it has been a game changer for me. It handles random boutique URLs way better than the other ones I have tried. You might want to consider it if you are tired of the constant errors. Just be careful though, because sometimes if the site is really obscure, the preview image might not load perfectly, but the link itself stays functional. Make sure to double check that your family members can actually click through to the checkout. I would suggest testing a few of those indie links first just to be safe. It really made my holiday prep way less of a headache compared to my previous setup.

Universal wishlist parsers often fail with smaller merchants because their metadata structure doesn't match standard e-commerce templates. Wishlistr handles random URLs a bit better in my experience, though you occasionally have to enter titles and prices manually when the scraper breaks. Another option to consider is creating a shared browser collection folder instead of using dedicated wishlist software, which completely bypasses the broken URL parsing issue for obscure boutique sites.

To add to the point above: relying on automated parsers for obscure indie stores is usually a losing battle since their underlying DOM structures change constantly. In my experience, building a quick python script or simply bookmarking via a local browser JSON file is much more reliable than any third-party app. If you really want a zero-cost tracking method without scraper headaches, utilizing a dedicated Walmart price tracker for major items while keeping a raw markdown file for local boutiques eliminates parsing errors entirely. You just paste the raw URI string directly into a text document.
