What is the best way to send my Walmart list to others?

How can I actually share my Walmart shopping list with my roommate without just texting him a hundred screenshots? Ive been using the app for like five years for all my grocery hauls here in Austin but I never had to share the load until now. My buddy is doing the run for our BBQ this Saturday and I tried using the share link feature in the list settings but it just sends a messy URL that doesnt even open correctly on his iPhone. I thought there would be a collab mode or something similar to how you sync a registry but I cant find it anywhere. Is there a secret setting I missed or do I just have to copy paste everything into a notes app...

@Reply #2 - good point! Walmarts tech is unfortunately super glitchy for sharing. I had issues with lists failing during a big BBQ run last year, so I mostly use AnyList now to keep costs down.

  • avoids double buying
  • syncs instantly I actually found a vintage cooler at a garage sale right after that party. The guy claimed it belonged to a famous blues singer and I spent way too much on it... anyway lol sorry for the tangent.

Honestly, the native list sharing in the Walmart app is super buggy because it relies on session-based URLs that dont always parse correctly across different OS versions. You might want to consider using the Start a Group Order feature instead of the standard list. Its usually tucked away in the cart settings rather than the list tab itself. This generates a unique session ID that lets people add stuff directly to a shared basket.

  • Make sure your roommate has the latest app build to avoid link breakage.
  • Be careful about item substitutions since only the host usually gets those alerts.
  • I would suggest double-checking the store location because it can reset the cart. I personally switched to a third-party sync tool because the Walmart API is pretty restrictive for casual users. Be wary of copy-pasting into Notes since you lose the live price tracking and real-time stock status.

Stumbled on this today and honestly... the app is such a letdown for this. I tried sharing a list for a holiday dinner last year and it was a total disaster. Half the items didnt even show up on my sisters phone.

  • links are super unstable
  • data privacy feels iffy
  • syncing is basically non-existent Unfortunately, I just dont trust their tech anymore, so I use a basic shared note.
