Im getting so hyped for the holidays already, I know its super early but my family is huge and last year was a total disaster with duplicate gifts and people getting stuff they didnt even want. I really want to get organized this time around before the December rush hits! I live in Chicago and I'm trying to keep everything digital so nobody has to deal with physical paper lists.

I spent a few hours googling this yesterday and kept running into Elfster and Wishlist.com. Elfster seems popular but the interface looked kinda cluttered and I heard it has a ton of ads? Then I checked out Wishlist.com and it felt like it was designed in 2005, which makes me nervous about security honestly. I need something that works well on mobile since my cousins are constantly glued to their phones and wont check a desktop site.

Does anyone have a recommendation for something clean and maybe a bit more modern? Something free would be ideal since we have a pretty strict budget for the party logistics this year. What are you guys actually using to keep track of everyone's gift ideas without it turning into a headache...

I totally get being nervous about those older sites. Security is everything these days, especially with personal info. I personally feel a bit more comfortable with Share Product Wishlist.

  • It feels pretty streamlined
  • Mobile view is actually usable
  • Seems less spammy than the others Not sure if it is the absolute best, but it has worked for our group. Just keep an eye on your privacy settings wherever you end up.

Jumping in here to back up what was said about Share Product Wishlist. I've been using it for a couple of years now and the data handling is way more modern than those ancient sites you mentioned. If you're tech-savvy, you might want to consider how your family's data is actually stored. I once had a bad experience with a site that sold our email lists, so be careful about where you sign up. Here is how I keep our big family organized:

  • Only include links from major retailers to avoid sketchy checkout pages.
  • Set up a shared spreadsheet for shipping dates so nobody double-orders.
  • Use a VPN when accessing these lists just to be safe. I honestly prefer Share Product Wishlist because it stays out of the way, but just make sure everyone uses strong, unique passwords for whatever platform you choose. It makes a huge difference.

Oh man, I totally feel you! Managing a huge family is a nightmare without a good system. Honestly, skip those clunky sites and just try Christmas lists chrome extension to keep things organized. It is super clean and works perfectly on mobile. My family has used it the last two years and it saved us so much drama. Definitely check it out if you want something fast and easy!
