Is there a way to export a Walmart list via text?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I’m totally lost. My husband is at the Walmart in Des Moines right now and I need to text him my grocery list fast. My logic was there would be a share button but I can't find it anywhere in the app. Is there a way to just text the whole list?

Theres no direct share, tho in my experience copy-pasting is safer than screenshots.

  • Screenshots: fast but messy
  • Copying: slow but reliable I always copy-paste just to be safe.

Unfortunately, the Walmart application lacks a dedicated export API for shopping lists, which is a significant technical oversight. There isnt a native share intent built into the current software version. Using the mobile web interface to copy data works better, or migrating to AnyList provides superior sync capabilities. Its quite disappointing that the native app remains so limited.

Like someone mentioned, sharing the login is probably the only way to stay sane because the app is a total disaster! Honestly its ridiculous how a massive company like Walmart cant even add a simple share button. It drives me crazy that we pay so much for groceries now and the quality of everything is just going downhill while the tech stays stuck in 2010. Its such a scam!

  • The app crashes constantly when Im actually in the aisles
  • Prices are hiking every single week but they cant hire one dev to fix the export?
  • Im tired of stuff being out of stock after the app says its there Its all about reliability and right now these big box apps have zero. I have started using this free wishlist creator for my actual planning because I just dont trust Walmart to keep my data straight anymore. Love the idea of just ditching their built-in lists entirely!

Saw this earlier but just now getting a chance to reply. Yeah, I totally agree with goxexjyvwu about avoiding login sharing, it is a massive security headache and the MFA will lock you out right when you are trying to checkout. Over the years, I have tried many ways to get around this app limitation while trying to keep our grocery budget in check. Here is my DIY approach that actually works and saves us money:

  • Open Walmart on your computer browser instead of the app.
  • Use this Chrome extension to quickly grab the items and export them to a clean text list.
  • Check the list for generic Great Value alternatives before texting it, which usually saves us around 15 percent on the total bill.
  • Copy and paste the final text list directly into a text message or a shared note. It takes like two minutes and keeps you from overspending on name brands.

> Walmart application lacks a dedicated export API... Exactly. Be careful with screenshots tho, they often miss things. I would suggest sharing your login so he sees the live cart. It is much safer for big grocery trips.

Just saw this and honestly, I have to disagree with the suggestion to share logins. From a technical security perspective, that is a huge risk since you are basically exposing your full session tokens and saved payment methods. Walmart backend is a total silo compared to Target more open API. I would suggest looking into how the data is handled before just handing over credentials:

  • Sharing accounts can trigger MFA lockouts if you are both active in different locations.
  • You risk exposing your entire purchase history and saved credit cards.
  • The app often de-authorizes one device when another logs in, which might leave him stranded in the aisle. Ive been using Easy Cart Share lately to handle these exports instead. It basically parses the list data so you can send it via text without the security headache. It is much more reliable than copy-pasting into a messy text block... basically gives you a clean data dump.
