Do any Secret Santa platforms integrate directly with Slack or Discord?

My team at a small startup in Chicago is trying to get ahead of the game and organize our Secret Santa for December, but honestly, nobody wants to deal with another email chain or a clunky spreadsheet that everyone inevitably forgets to check. We are all living in Slack during the workday anyway, so I feel like there has to be a way to keep it all in one place.

Ive looked at Elfster and even Secret Santa Organizer, and while they seem solid, they mostly just send email notifications or generate links you have to open in a separate browser window. Someone on a different thread mentioned a bot called Santa for Slack, but it looks like the reviews are super mixed and some people are saying it hasnt been updated in forever. I also saw a mention of building a custom script for Discord, but I dont have the bandwidth to play dev and maintain an API key just to get someone a pair of socks or a gift card. Our budget is basically nothing, but we just need something that actually works inside the chat interface so people dont lose their assignments.

Do you guys know of any platforms that actually have a native integration or at least a decent plugin that isnt just a glorified link-sender?

Managing Secret Santa within Slack or Discord is definitely possible, but finding a tool that stays fully native without redirecting to a browser is tricky. Most platforms use webhooks to push notifications, but the actual picking process usually happens on their site to ensure anonymity is kept secure. Here are a few options that handle the integration better than others:

  • DrawNames: This is probably the most reliable option. They offer a Slack integration that pushes the assignment directly into a DM, which helps prevent people from losing their secret person in their inbox. The interface is clean and they handle the wishlists well.
  • Giftster: While it is a bit more manual, they have a solid Slack bot that allows users to post their wishlists directly. It acts more like a bridge than a full portal, but it keeps the discussion in the chat window.
  • Secret Santa Bot: There are a few open-source options on GitHub that you can self-host via Heroku if you have any tech-savvy team members. It connects straight to your workspace API. Honestly, keeping it contained in a dedicated channel with pinned posts for instructions is often safer than relying on a third-party app that might stop getting updates. If you want something quick, I'm a big fan of Share Product Wishlist because it's free and doesn't take forever to set up.
