Need to buy this car seat at Walmart before next Saturday for my sister's baby shower. I saw people saying Brickseek is dead now and Honey alerts are super delayed, so I dont trust them. What is the absolute best app for instant Walmart price drop notifications?

I caught this thread a bit late, but I've been in your shoes before. Tracking car seats is a total nightmare because the prices fluctuate like crazy based on color and stock levels. I would suggest being extremely careful with instant apps though. Last summer, I was hunting for a Clek seat and relied on those push notifications, but the item went out of stock before the notification even hit my phone screen. It was frustrating as hell... basically a waste of time. Honestly, I have to politely disagree with the idea that one app is gonna solve this for you. You might want to consider using a dedicated Walmart price tracker that lets you see the actual price history graph instead. Most apps just scrape data every hour or so, but seeing the historical floor price tells you if the deal is actually a deal or just a marketing trick. A few quick things to watch out for:

  • Always check the Sold and Shipped by Walmart filter because third-party sellers mess up the alert triggers.
  • Set your alerts for 5 dollars above your target price to catch the drop before it hits the bottom. Be careful with the Honey alerts specifically; their cache often shows old prices that arent actually live when you click through. I'd definitely suggest a more technical tool that monitors the direct product page metadata instead of just the visual price tag. Good luck with the baby shower prep, hope you snag that seat.

Saw this thread this morning and had to jump in because baby gear is tricky. Last year I spent weeks watching a stroller and learned the hard way that prices drop right before stuff goes out of stock forever. If you want something reliable, just go with any basic tracker from a big tech developer. Theyre usually stable enough for Walmart and dont crash as much as the niche ones. Keep these things in mind:

  • price history is more important than the alert itself
  • stock levels usually drop when the price does
  • shipping costs can eat up your savings fast I missed out on a car seat once by waiting for an extra five bucks off and then it was gone everywhere... lesson learned. Just set your limit and buy it when it hits that number. I usually just set a target price on PriceDropCatch and it pings me when the price actually hits that mark.
