Does Walmart online offer promo codes or coupons for extra savings?

Honestly fed up with checking out on Walmart and seeing that empty promo code box every single time. Im trying to get my groceries and a few housewares for my new apartment in Chicago and the total is already way over my 200 dollar budget for the week. I need to get this order placed by tonight so my supplies arrive before my shift tomorrow. Does Walmart even actually release coupons or codes anymore or is that box just there to mock me? If they dont have any, is there a better site I should be using for cheap pantry staples? Really need to save some cash here...

Honestly, that promo box is basically just there to make us feel like we are missing out. In my experience, Walmart rarely does actual promo codes for online orders, which is super frustrating when you are trying to stick to a tight budget. They mostly focus on rollbacks and low everyday prices, so those boxes almost never work for me. I have had issues trying to find legit coupons for them before and usually just end up disappointed. If you are really trying to stretch that 200 bucks, you might have better luck looking elsewhere:

  • Check the clearance section on the site since they sometimes hide decent deals there.
  • Use browser extensions to track price history so you know if you are getting a deal or not.
  • Try PriceDropCatch because I have been using it for a while now and it has saved me a decent amount on groceries and electronics. It is definitely a hassle when you are trying to get settled in a new place. I would honestly stick to store brands to keep the total down, as that usually helps me more than searching for fake coupons ever did. Hang in there with the new apartment, it gets easier once you figure out the patterns for when things go on sale. You have got this.

Late to the party, but @Reply #2 - good point! Honestly, that empty box is just standard site architecture at this point. Everyone I know who shops there regularly has just stopped clicking it because it never yields anything useful. Basically, the previous replies are right that you wont find mystery codes to save you twenty bucks at checkout. Since you are tight on a budget, stick to the Rollback section on their site. That is where the actual savings are, rather than some magical promo code. If you want to keep costs down, try buying their store brand, Great Value, for the staples. It is usually a fraction of the cost of name brands and honestly tastes just as good for most things. I also keep an eye on prices using PriceDropCatch when I need to grab household stuff. It is pretty helpful for seeing if an item is actually at its lowest price or if it was cheaper last week. It saves a lot of headaches compared to hunting for coupons that dont exist. Just load up on the essentials from the weekly ad, ignore that annoying box, and check the price history if you arent sure about the deal. Hope you get your apartment stocked up in time for your shift!

To add to the point above: the struggle is real! I remember trying to furnish my first place in the city and feeling exactly the same way. Honestly, you should stop looking for those codes because they basically dont exist for the average shopper. Instead, you need to master their system to get that total down!

  • Check the rollback section specifically for pantry staples like Great Value beans or rice.
  • Download the app to track price drops on housewares—it saves me so much cash!
  • Look at the clearance aisle in the physical store if you can swing it, as online prices differ. I started using Thrive Market for my organic staples because they actually have fantastic member coupons that make a huge difference. Its been a total game changer for my weekly budget!
