Which TV is best for Bright Room?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for TV recommendations for my living room that gets tons of natural light during the day. My current TV is basically unwatchable when the sun's out - the glare and reflections make it impossible to see anything clearly. I've heard OLED might not be the best choice for bright rooms, but I'm not sure what features to prioritize. Should I focus on peak brightness levels, anti-glare coatings, or specific panel types? Budget is flexible if it means actually being able to watch during daylight hours. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated!

Sony X95K owner here! This TV handles my south-facing living room like a champ. The full array local dimming and high peak brightness (around 1000 nits) cut right through ambient light. I was skeptical about spending that much, but the difference compared to my old LED TV is night and day. Pro tip: even with a bright room TV, investing in some light-filtering blinds will still improve your viewing experience significantly.

Honestly, I've been doing so much reading on this because my living room is basically a greenhouse. It’s super overwhelming trying to compare all the different brands when you're a beginner like me. Tbh, one thing I've learned from my own research is to be really careful about just trusting those high brightness numbers you see in the marketing stuff. I almost bought a set because the 'nits' were off the charts, but then I started seeing people complain about how those specific brands handle 'blooming' or how the anti-glare coating can actually distort the picture quality if it's too aggressive. It’s like a trade-off I didn't even know existed. I'm still super nervous about pulling the trigger on anything because every brand seems to have a different 'special' tech for bright rooms and half the time it sounds like marketing fluff. Just a heads up that the brightest option isn't always the clearest one... at least that's what I'm finding out the hard way while I keep looking.

If budget is a concern, the TCL 6-Series punches way above its weight class for bright room viewing. Obviously it's not going to match the premium models but for the price point, the brightness and contrast are surprisingly good. I have one in my kitchen area where there's tons of overhead lighting and it holds up well. Just make sure you get the newer model with the better anti-reflective screen.
