The previous announced LG C5 & G5 OLED TVs now already listed at Amazon US.
Just found this thread and man, those launch prices always give me sticker shock. I remember when I snagged my LG C2 65 inch OLED a couple years ago, I jumped in way too early and ended up kicking myself when the price tanked just a few months later. I'm also a bit of a DIY person when it comes to my home theater setup, and I'm honestly not sure if the mounting brackets for the G series have changed again this year. I think I heard someone mention on another forum that the wall clearance might be different for the G5, but IIRC, LG usually tries to keep things somewhat backward compatible. I'm gonna hold off until I see some actual teardowns or user manuals posted online. Buying the first batch always feels a bit like being a beta tester anyway, you know?
Building on the earlier suggestion, I've been through this cycle way too many times over the years and it never gets easier on the soul... or the bank account. In my experience, that initial rush of seeing the new listings always ends in a bit of a facepalm for me later on. I've tried many different ways to justify it, but honestly, I still remember getting the one I have now at launch and then seeing the price crater just a few months down the line. It was pretty gut-wrenching seeing the same box at the store with a massive sale sticker while I was still paying off the credit card bill for it. I just stood there in the aisle feeling like a total chump. Its that classic early adopter tax and it basically feels like a punch in the gut once the hype settles down and you realize you couldve had a better deal if you just had an ounce of patience... which I clearly dont.
Honestly, it’s cool they’re finally showing up on Amazon but basically I’d be super careful about jumping in this early because honestly buying the first wave of these LGs without seeing how they stack up against the new Sony or Samsung panels is kind of risky you know? I mean yeah the G5 looks great on the spec sheet but we don't even have real-world benchmarks yet and usually the market shifts pretty fast once the other brands release their full lineups so I’m always a bit cautious about the early adopter tax tbh. Plus you never know if there’s gonna be some weird firmware bug or panel lottery issues with the new batch that they’ll need a few months to patch out so I’m just staying on the sidelines until we get some solid market research and side-by-side comparisons to see if the jump from the previous gen is actually worth the investment or if it's just marginal gains basically
Saved for later, ty!
