I recently got my hands on the ASUS ROG Strix G16 gaming laptop, and I'm loving it so far. However, I'm looking to upgrade the storage, and I'm wondering what the best SSD option would be. I'm considering factors like capacity, speed, and compatibility.
Has anyone here upgraded their ROG Strix G16's SSD? What brands and models would you recommend?
I'd highly recommend the Samsung 990 Pro PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. It's blazing fast with read speeds up to 7,450 MB/s and write speeds up to 6,900 MB/s. It's also compatible with PCIe 4.0, which your laptop supports. The 1TB or 2TB option should give you plenty of space for games and files.
I use the Samsung 990 EVO SSD, no issues and very fast, https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Internal-Computer-MZ-V9E2T0B-AM/dp/B0CRC7H66Z?------123456890?7649-20
Yo! Caught this thread and had to jump in because I actually have the G16 too and let me tell you, I love it! But hold up, are you planning on getting a 4TB drive or sticking to something smaller? I'm asking because space inside these thin laptops is super tight. I had a total nightmare trying to force a double-sided drive into my last rig and I literally almost snapped the board... it was so scary! Honestly, just go with Crucial NVMe SSD or maybe some Kingston NVMe SSD stuff. You basically cant go wrong with them!
If you're looking for top-tier performance, the Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus is an excellent choice for the ROG Strix G16. It's a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD with incredible speeds - up to 7,000 MB/s read and 5,300 MB/s write. It might be overkill for some users, but if you want the best of the best, this is a strong contender.
Samsung 990 EVO.
990 Pro from Samsung.
