What is the best SSD for the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D? I'm building a high-end gaming and video editing PC and want to ensure I choose an SSD that maximizes performance. Should I go for a PCIe Gen 5.0 SSD, or are there good PCIe 4.0 options? Any recommendations for specific models would be greatly appreciated!

Samsung 990 PRO SSD is OK. https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-Internal-Expansion-MZ-V9P2T0B-AM/dp/B0BHJJ9Y77?------123456890?7649-20

Get the Samsung SSD 9100 PRO 4TB. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DX2GJ1YR?------123456890?7649-20&linkCode=osi&th=1

The Samsung 9100 Pro delivers sequential read speeds up to 14,800MB/s and write speeds up to 13,400MB/s, making it ideal for content creation.

Basically if you are building a beast like that you gotta think about how the drive holds up after a year of heavy video editing since raw speed is one thing but sustained performance is way more important long term and I have some thoughts on what to look for based on my own rigs:

  • Just go with Crucial for your main OS and workspace drive since their support is great and they have a history of realy solid firmware updates that keep things running smooth tho
  • Basically any high end drive from SK Hynix is a win for efficiency and they are wierdly good at staying cool under load which is huge when your CPU is already dumping tons of heat into the case basically
  • Look for brands that offer at least a 5 year warranty and high TBW ratings because you are gonna be thrashing those cells with video files and you dont want to see those IOPS drop off after six months realy
  • Tbh I would stick to a brand that makes their own NAND flash like Micron or Hynix because the consistency is just better than some of the smaller brands that swap out components mid production and you end up with a slower drive than you paid for and that just sucks for a high end build

For the 9950X3D, you'll want something that can keep up with that beast of a processor. I'd recommend the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB - it's got excellent random read/write performance which really matters for gaming and general responsiveness. The WD Black SN850X is also solid if you want to save a bit of money. Both have good endurance ratings and should last you years.
