I have no clue how to pick a power supply. My gaming build has a mid-range budget of like 100 bucks and I really dont want the thing to blow up my motherboard or something. Seeing all these random brands is super confusing. Just need something rock solid to finish this build by Friday. Which one is best?

> My gaming build has a mid-range budget Youre definitely right to be careful about the power supply. Ive been building rigs for years and honestly learned the hard way not to skimp here. I always grab the EVGA SuperNOVA 750 GT 750W 80 Plus Gold whenever I need something reliable under a hundred. Its never failed me in any of my builds and keeps everything super stable. Just dont buy the cheapest junk you find on sale.

Honestly, dont stress it. Grab the Corsair RM750e 750W 80 PLUS Gold or a Seasonic Focus GX-750 750W 80 PLUS Gold. Both are rock solid, super reliable, and totally worth the cash.

To add to what’s already been said, there are some other absolute gems for that sub-100 price point. Been messing around with PC builds for forever, and honestly, you can't go wrong with these choices:

  • be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 750W 80 PLUS Gold: This thing is incredibly quiet and it's ATX 3.0 ready, which is a massive bonus if you plan on upgrading your graphics card later down the line.
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 750 GT 750W 80 PLUS Gold: These are just super reliable and hold up forever. Plus, they're pretty compact so cable management in your case won't be a nightmare.
  • Cooler Master MWE Gold 750 V2 750W 80 PLUS Gold: If you're trying to keep that budget tight, this is easily the best value pick. It delivers really clean, stable power and doesn't make a peep even under load. Grab any of these and your motherboard is gonna be perfectly safe!

Honestly, I have had some rough experiences with cheaper power supplies lately. Lost a whole motherboard last month to a unit that just failed under load. Unfortunately, quality control has been pretty hit or miss. If you want peace of mind, just look for anything Tier A from Super Flower or check out what Fractal Design is putting out. Dont skimp, man. It isnt worth the headache when your rig goes up in smoke.
