so I bought an i5-13600K because it seemed like the best one for the money for my gaming build but now I am completely stuck on the motherboard part and honestly I am so overwhelmed looking at all these numbers and letters like Z790 and B760 and I have no idea what they even mean or if they even matter for me. I spent most of my money on the CPU and a GPU so I really need to find something cheap like under $150 if that is even possible for this chip.
I was looking at some cheap ones on Amazon but then I read somewhere that the 13600K gets really hot and might need a good VRM which sounds like a different language to me?? I am so scared of buying the wrong thing and having it not fit or worse like I blow up the processor or something. I live in Ohio and there is a Micro Center about an hour away but I dont want to drive there and look like an idiot asking basic questions if I can just order it online.
My logic was that a motherboard is just a board to plug things into so why does it cost so much? Is there a specific one that is safe for a beginner who doesnt know how to do any fancy settings? I just want to play games and not have it crash...
Honestly, Ive been super happy with a mid-range B760. It works well and I have no complaints about the gaming performance. Just gotta watch out for a few traps tho...
