I'm planning to upgrade my desktop and recently decided on the Ryzen 7 7800X3D for gaming and productivity work. However, I'm having trouble choosing the right motherboard. My budget is around $200-300, and I'm looking for something with good VRMs and decent features.

Any good suggestions?

Some solid options in your range:

I'd personally go with the MSI for the best balance of features and price.

@Reply #4 - good point! In my experience you really dont need to go crazy with the high end stuff to get a stable system. Over the years I've tried many different setups and found that:

  • MSI usually keeps things simple which I appreciate.
  • ASUS has been a bit hit or miss lately for my taste.
  • Gigabyte is solid hardware but their software drives me nuts. Speaking of software, it reminds me of this nightmare build I did for my cousin last summer. We were trying to set up his room and his old desk literally collapsed under the weight of his massive ultrawide monitor. We spent the whole weekend at the hardware store buying wood glue and clamps instead of actually benchmarking the new CPU. It was a total mess but the desk is solid as a rock now. Anyway sorry kinda went off topic there lol.
