What is the best GPU for 8K video editing in 2025? I'm looking for recommendations that balance performance and price. I've heard about the Nvidia RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, but are there other options worth considering? Additionally, how do AMD GPUs compare for this purpose? Any insights on VRAM requirements and overall performance would be greatly appreciated!

RTX 5090, or NVIDIA A series.

Honestly, I am glad I found this thread because I have been struggling with the exact same dilemma lately. My current DIY workstation has been working well for 4K and I have been very satisfied with its reliability over the years, but trying to move into 8K is making me rethink my entire build. One thing I am really cautious about is the thermal and power requirements for these newer cards. A huge mistake I see people make is just looking at the VRAM specs and forgetting about the actual power draw. If you are building this yourself like I am, you really gotta be careful with your PSU choice and case airflow. Tbh, it is pretty scary seeing how much heat these things generate... I am still looking for a safe path forward that wont turn my office into a sauna or blow a fuse. Same struggle here, basically.

For 8K video editing in 2025, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands out with 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM and advanced DLSS 4 technology, offering exceptional performance.
