Is the 7800X3D still the king for gaming or should I be looking at the newer stuff? Im building a new rig for 1440p ultra gaming and I really dont want to have to upgrade again for like 4 or 5 years. I saw a bunch of benchmarks online showing the 7800X3D beats out pretty much everything else for raw frames, but then I read a few threads on reddit about the 9000 series chips being more efficient or something and now Im totally lost. Like is the performance jump even worth the extra cash? My budget for the CPU is around 400 to 500 bucks max. Im based in the UK so parts are already kinda pricey here. I plan on grabbing the parts in the next two weeks because my current PC is literally sounding like a jet engine whenever I try to play anything remotely demanding. Do you guys think the X3D cache is still the way to go or am I gonna regret not getting a newer architecture...

I upgraded recently and was disappointed the newer 9000 series didnt really offer any meaningful gains for gaming. Dont waste your money on the latest hype when this thing still crushes 1440p easily. Save those extra pounds for a better GPU instead.

> Is the 7800X3D still the king for gaming or should I be looking at the newer stuff? Honestly, the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core 5.0GHz is still the one to beat. I've been running mine for a while now and I'm super happy with the performance. Games just fly, and I've had zero issues. If you really want something newer, the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X 16-Core 5.7GHz is out there, but for pure gaming, it's kinda overkill and doesn't actually crush the 7800X3D in frame rates. You're basically paying extra for productivity cores you wont even touch while gaming. Sticking with the X3D chip is the smart move for your budget. It stays cool and handles 1440p perfectly. Save that extra cash for a better GPU, honestly. Let me know if you need help picking a cooler for it!
