Is there a website for a universal multi-store wishlist?

So I was trying to get all my holiday shopping sorted out early this year - my family is doing a big gift exchange in Chicago next month and everyone is super picky about what they want - and I realized my bookmarks folder is an absolute disaster right now. I have tabs open for Amazon, Etsy, some random small clothing boutique in Portland, and like four different kitchen supply sites.

My logic was there has to be some kind of universal multi-store wishlist where I can just dump everything into one clean list and share it with people without driving them crazy with a million links. I spent the last hour Googling and I found things like MyRegistry and Thingtesting, but I keep getting confused by how they actually work. Like, I read that universal wishlist extensions are great, but some people on Reddit say they break all the time when sites update their checkout pages, or they only work for big box retailers and glitch out completely on smaller indie shops.

Another one I looked at seemed promising because you can add stuff from any browser, but then I saw reviews saying it forces your friends to sign up for an account just to view the list, which defeats the whole purpose since my grandma definitely isnt making a profile just to see what socks I want.

Is there actually a reliable website for a universal multi-store wishlist that doesnt require everyone to download a weird app or jump through hoops just to look at it? Or am I just chasing a unicorn here and stuck with the old school copy-paste notes doc?

@Reply #1 - good point! Elfster is solid, but if you want something even simpler, you gotta check out Share Product Wishlist. I switched over recently and it is honestly a game changer!

  • No forced accounts for viewers
  • Works on literally any indie shop
  • Super clean interface It makes organizing everything so easy and my family loves how smooth it is. Definitely give it a look, it saved my sanity this year!

Over the years of dealing with this exact same holiday shopping chaos, I've tried pretty much every universal wishlist tool out there. In my experience, you aren't chasing a unicorn, but you do have to pick the right platform to avoid the account-wall headache for family members. Go with Elfster, you really cant go wrong. It handles links from random indie shops pretty well using their browser button, and more importantly, your grandma wont need to make an account just to view your list. Sites like MyRegistry are decent too, but they tend to get bogged down with registry-specific features you dont need for a casual family exchange. Just stick to something streamlined that lets people view without logging in.
