How can I merge my Amazon and Target wishlists into one?

So i am probably overcomplicating this but i am honestly so lost right now. I have been trying to get ready for my wedding which is happening next June here in Chicago and my family keeps asking for a registry or a gift list or whatever you call it. The thing is i already have a bunch of stuff saved on my Amazon account and then i have this separate list on the Target app because i really like their home decor stuff more.

I feel like such a dummy but i cant figure out how to put them together so people can just look at one link instead of me sending them two different websites. It feels kinda rude to send people multiple links? Like i dont want them to have to hunt around. Is there a way to just smash them together into one big list? Im not very tech savvy at all so if there is a button i am missing please let me know. I tried looking in the settings on both sites but it all looks like gibberish to me.

Here is what i am looking for if anyone has ideas:

  • it has to be free if possible because our wedding budget is already stretched super thin
  • i need it to be really simple to set up because i usually break things when i try to sync accounts
  • it would be great if it updates automatically when someone buys something so i dont get two of the same toaster or something
  • i want to be able to add stuff from other random shops too maybe if i find something cute on a smaller boutique site later on

I dont even know if this is possible or if i am just dreaming. Do i have to like manually type everything out again on a new website? That sounds like it would take forever and i already feel behind on everything. Sorry if this is a really basic thing that everyone knows how to do but i am just sitting here staring at my phone feeling totally stuck. If there is an app or a website that does this for you please tell me what it is called...

Catching this a day late but honestly, i have spent way too much time looking at how these store APIs work. The technical reality is that Amazon and Target are direct competitors, so they build walls to keep you from exporting your data easily. I would suggest being really careful with those browser extensions that claim to sync everything perfectly because they often fail to update the purchased status correctly. I helped my brother with this last year and we learned a few things the hard way:

  • many universal lists use web scraping which can break if the store changes its layout
  • make sure to double check your privacy settings on the individual lists or they wont show up
  • i found that using this site to aggregate everything is way safer than trying to hack together a sync between apps It basically acts as a wrapper for all your links so guests see one page. Just gotta watch those sync lag times tho because they aren't always real-time.

Unfortunately, there isnt a magic button inside the Amazon or Target apps to merge them. I have tried using their built-in universal features before but I had issues with items just vanishing or prices not updating correctly. It was honestly such a mess and not as good as expected... really disappointing for such big companies. Here is the deal with the options:

  • Amazon Universal: Its free, but it breaks constantly when trying to pull info from Target.
  • Manual lists: You could copy-paste everything, but that takes forever and is a total pain.
  • Third-party aggregators: I highly recommend this gift list tool instead. It is much more stable and actually tells people when something is already bought. You are gonna be fine, just dont waste your time trying to make the specific store apps talk to each other. They just arent built for it.
