Ive been cutting travel vlogs for years in Premiere Pro but this new project with 50 hours of raw 4k footage is totally killing me. My workflow is just too slow. Im looking at AI tools to handle auto-captioning or scene detection to save time. Any solid recommendations that actually work for a 500 dollar budget?

Honestly, 50 hours of 4k is a nightmare. I learned the hard way that throwing more software at a project like that just creates a mess. If you want speed, stop relying on cloud AI and get your hardware sorted first. You might want to consider dumping that footage onto a SanDisk Extreme Pro 4TB Portable SSD to keep your cache files snappy, because latency kills productivity faster than slow editing. Here is what I found actually saves time:

  • Use Topaz Labs Video AI v5.0 for stabilizing shots if you have any shaky gimbal footage, it cleans things up fast.
  • Look at Boris FX Sapphire 2024 Suite for transitions if you need to bulk process effects, its pricey but saves days of manual keyframing. Be careful with auto-detect tools, they usually miss cuts and make more work. Just be systematic with your folder structure and proxies.

Jumping in here. With 50 hours of 4k, your machine is probably screaming. Ive tested Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2024 built-in features vs external tools like Descript Pro AI Editor.

  • Descript is great for text-based cutting, but it can get messy with 4k proxy workflows.
  • Premieres built-in scene edit detection is finally decent, honestly. Save the cash for a better Samsung 990 Pro 4TB NVMe SSD instead. Hardware speed beats buggy plugins every time imo.

TL;DR: Keep your raw files backed up before trying new AI plugins. In my experience, those automated tools can corrupt project files if you arent careful. Ive tried many over the years and honestly, most just add more bloat. Stick to manual scene detection for now so you dont lose 50 hours of work. If you need a hand setting up a safer workflow, just ask.
