Are Walmart Great Value products actually worth it or are they just cheap for a reason? I've been trying to slash my grocery budget lately since my rent in Austin just spiked another $200 and I'm honestly struggling to keep my weekly food spend under $75. I did a bit of digging online and saw a couple articles saying that for things like milk and eggs it literally doesnt matter because they often come from the same regional bottling plants as the expensive brands but then I saw some other people on a different forum saying the quality control for their canned goods and frozen meals is super hit or miss. Like one person said their frozen veggies were mostly stems which sounds gross lol. I'm mostly worried about the staples like flour, spices, and maybe their cleaning stuff like dish soap or trash bags. Does the - you get what you pay for - rule apply here or is the name brand stuff just a total scam? I dont want to buy a giant pack of GV trash bags only to have them rip every single time I take the bin out but money is tight right now so I'm tempted to just swap everything over. Anyone have specific items they swear by or others that are a total skip?

Just saw this while scrolling! Honestly, Great Value frozen fruit and canned staples are absolute game changers. Ngl I love their frozen mango, it is a total steal! For canned beans or corn, it's basically the same as fancy brands because processing standards for basic veggies are identical across factories. Definitely check out a Walmart price tracker to catch extra price drops. It's honestly amazing how much you save on the basics!

I would suggest Great Value spices and flour for consistency, but be careful with their trash bags as the plastic is thin and prone to breaking.

Caught this a bit late but honestly, ive been disappointed with their cleaning stuff. Quality control just isnt as good as expected for things that need to be reliable. Are you planning to switch your laundry detergent too or just kitchen items?

  • Dish soap: unfortunately watery, youll use twice as much.
  • Bleach: basically identical to name brands for $4, safe choice.
  • Glass cleaner: streaks kinda bad, skip it tho.
