For top TVs under $1,000 with low input lag, high refresh rates, and HDR support, consider:

LG OLED42C3PUA: Offers near-instantaneous response time, 4K at 120Hz, and Dolby Vision HDR.

Hisense U8K: Features 4K at 144Hz, Dolby Vision, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.

Samsung QN90B: Provides 4K at 120Hz, HDMI 2.1, and VRR support.

Honestly, I was in the same boat last year trying to find something that wouldnt break the bank for my PS5. I ended up just going with a TCL because everyone said they have the best bang for your buck for gaming. Im still pretty new to all the tech specs (all those acronyms are confusing lol) but after owning one for a while, here is what I noticed: * The picture still looks just as bright as day one.
* Setting up the 'Game Mode' was actually super easy.
* It handles my fast-paced shooters way better than my old monitor. If you're worried about budget, honestly just look at any of the higher-end series from TCL. You really cant go wrong for the price. Does anyone else feel like the 'Game Mode' makes a *huge* difference or is it just me? Im still learning all this stuff tbh.

Honestly, the point about TCL is spot on. If you're looking at performance vs. price, you gotta look at the actual benchmarks rather than just the marketing fluff. I've spent a lot of time digging through test data, and here are two big things to look for if you want that competitive edge: 1. Input Lag: Look for sets that consistently stay under 10ms at 120Hz. The TCL QM8 is a beast here and actually competes with TVs twice its price in responsiveness, iirc.
2. Peak Brightness (Nits): For real HDR impact, you want something hitting at least 1000 nits in Game Mode. The Hisense U7N is a newer model that's been crushing it in real-world testing lately, and it's usually well under a grand. Most people focus on the brand, but the bench numbers don't lie, you know? It's all about how it handles the motion in-game, tbh.
