Honestly im just so fed up with these cheap knockoff pens I keep buying off Amazon thinking im saving money but they just stop charging or the palm rejection is literal garbage. I have an iPad Pro 12.9 for my main illustration work and then an older iPad Mini I use for sketching on the train and its a total nightmare trying to find one stylus that actually works well on both without being a huge headache. My logic was that a universal one would be easier but the lag is driving me insane and I have a huge freelance commission starting next Tuesday so I need to get this sorted like yesterday. I looked at the Apple Pencil 2 but then it wont work with my Mini and the USB-C one feels like a downgrade because it lacks pressure sensitivity? I think? Im just stuck and frustrated because I dont want to spend 100 quid on something that only works with one device but the third party ones are just letdowns. Is there actually a stylus out there that doesnt suck and works across different models or am I just chasing a ghost here? My budget is around 80 pounds max if it actually lasts more than a month... its just so annoying trying to switch between them and nothing feels right.

I've tried many cheap knockoffs and they always fail right before a big deadline. Eventually I played it safe and got the Logitech Crayon Digital Pencil for iPad. It lacks pressure sensitivity but uses the same tech as Apple so palm rejection actually works. It connects to different iPads instantly without pairing, and honestly, it's the only budget-friendly one I trust to actually last.

I've been there and honestly, I'm super satisfied with the Adonit Note+ Digital Stylus with Pressure Sensitivity. It's been my go-to for a while and it feels way safer than those random clones that just stop working after a week. The big issue with the cheap ones is they usually dont have a real Bluetooth connection for the data handshake, so you lose out on the features you actually need for illustration. The Adonit has 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity and the palm rejection actually works properly... which is kinda vital for a big commission. It works great in Procreate and Zen Brush. You should definitely check out the compatibility checker on the Adonit website or even the stylus reviews on a site like The Wirecutter before you buy. They explain the tech behind why some pens lag on older screens way better than I can. It's better to get something reliable now so you arent stressing when Tuesday hits. I've had zero complaints with mine and it definitely feels like a real tool rather than a toy. Good luck with the freelance gig, you're gonna smash it once you have a pen that actually behaves.

Like someone mentioned, universal tech is a gamble. I've used the Zagg Pro Stylus for iPad for months without any real issues.

  • Solid palm rejection
  • Reliable pairing
